Introduction to the team

Within TSG, the State & Local Tax Credits & Incentives team helps clients compete and succeed by staying up-to-date on the ever-changing, complex federal and state and local tax rules as they relate to credits and incentives. Responsibilities :

  • Conduct research and writing related transferable tax credits on the state and federal level

  • Participate in negotiations and transactions for transferable tax credits

  • Calculate federal disaster zone, employer paid leave and related state and federal hiring based tax credits

  • Participate in negotiations for state and local incentives

  • Conduct research and writing for location based credits and incentives

  • Complete requisite documentation for credits and incentives compliance purposes

  • Participate in business development activities as needed

  • Develop internal relationships within the firm and help grow external branding

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with an emphasis in Accounting, Business or related field preferred

  • Master’s degree in Taxation and/or JD with LLM in Tax preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of related tax experience required; public accounting experience preferred

  • CPA, bar membership or equivalent credential preferred. If not certified, must meet educational requirements to obtain license upon hire in state of employment

  • Prior experience with state or federal credits and incentives programs preferred

  • Previous experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on state and local tax issues preferred

  • Experience with multi-state income, sales/use, gross receipts, property, employment or other miscellaneous state and local taxes preferred

  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Excellent internal and external client service skills

  • Strong tax research skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, tasks and simultaneous projects

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)

Compensation Range (Denver Market ONLY): Washington State - $79,000 - $126,000
