The Government Performance Audit Senior works on a variety of projects for clients in local government, state government, special purpose districts, higher education, non-profit, and tribal industries served by the Business Consulting Services. This role will focus on performance audits, internal audits, enterprise risk assessments, efficiency studies, process improvement reviews, and organization assessments.

Responsibilities:
Perform consulting activities that include conducting interviews, reviewing documents, performing a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis, and preparing client deliverables such as findings, recommendations, and draft and final reports in compliance with relevant professional standards (GAGAS, IIA)
Conduct a variety of analysis, including data analysis, survey analysis, peer benchmarking, and best practice research to develop messages and craft actionable, well-support recommendations
Present deliverables to clients
Work collaboratively with clients to understand current business practices, identify opportunities for improvement, define new processes, and develop new/updated policies and procedures
Support project start up activities, such as developing project work plans, budgets, and schedules, and attending kickoff meetings
Travels to client locations to work onsite and periodically attend industry conferences
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required; Masters in Accounting, MBA, or MPA preferred
Minimum of 2 years of government (city, county, special purpose, or state) or not-for-profit industry experience
Knowledge of GAGAS and IIA standards; CIA or CGAP designation preferred
Experience with performance audits, efficiency studies, and risk assessments
Familiarity with financial and operational aspects of local governments preferred
Able to take direction, learn quickly, and work collaboratively as a self-directed professional to meet project objectives
Effective time management and organizational skills, proven ability to prioritize while simultaneously managing numerous projects/processes often under tight deadlines
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Ability to travel as needed, approximately up to 30%
